We first heard last night that Donut, aka Android 1.6, was ready to begin rolling out to G1’s and MyTouch 3G’s all over the country early this morning, and we are now receiving official confirmation that it is indeed happening and will continue over the coming days.

Yes, you read that right! The T-Mobile Android G! is getting the 1.6 update and it’s getting it now. According to sources, the update has begun to push out to G1 devices, which should make the first adopters overjoyed! Nice that Google is rewarding early buyers and not punishing them like so many others do

Those waiting for Android 1.6 will may have soon good news to wake up to this morning because the update process has begun. According to details being reported by TmoNews, the 1.6 update is being sent out to “select G1 handsets” as of last night at midnight and then after a 24-hour wait period that same update will begin to show up for myTouch 3G users.Of course, while I am waiting anxiously like most everyone else, it is important to point out that this is a staggered rollout.
