After 30 long months with my faithful Nokia 6126 , I finally broke down and splurged on a new phone. I’m now the proud owner of a MyTouch 3G . There’s so much about this phone that excites me, mainly because I’m a geek who doesn’t typically get my hands on new technology until it’s cheap enough to be evaluated in terms of the number of meals I’ll have to skip to afford it.

T-Mobile has thrown some advertising dollars at promoting the myTouch 3G, and they’ve enlisted the help of a few celebrities to do it. In a new spot highlighting the “my” in myTouch, the new Android device is seen adapting to the user as it passes through the hands of three celebrities: actor/comedian and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson, and stuntman/Celebrity Apprentice alum Jesse James

Thursday was the first day you could get your hands on a myTouch, the new Android phone from T-Mobile.The most interesting thing isn’t the phone itself. Oh, it’s a nice phone with much better battery life than the first Anroid phone, the G1. But more interesting are two apps that T-Mobile has been promoting heavily alongside the rollout. What makes those highly touted apps of interest is that one is a smart example of what an app should be and the other is a missed opportunity

I told you yesterday that you can head over to your nearest T-Mobile store and pick up your own myTouch , but what I didn’t tell you was that there was a major party going down for its launch. Not only was Elvis on hand to welcome the newest Android phone to the market, but skydivers and a full-on jet flyby completed the ceremony. I can’t wait to get my hands on the G1 predecessor and try out all the customizations , so keep your eyes peeled for a review coming up soon! In the mean
